Value
"Escalade wagons are basically GMC Yukon Denalis with Cadillac looks, a pinch
more power, extra standard features, and higher prices. All GM's redesigned 2007
large SUVs show marked improvement, especially in ride, handling, and interior
execution. Is Escalade worth its extra cost over the Denali? Not really, but
it is a good value against most other premium large SUVs."
Ride
Betrays truck-type design with minor structural shudder on rough pavement. Ride otherwise comfortably absorbent.
Economy
No opportunity to measure yet. Cadillac recommends premium-grade fuel.
Noise
"Quiet enough, but only midpack for premium large SUV class. V8 subdued at highway
speeds, roars at high rpm. Wind rush noticed from large door mirrors and around
front doors from 65 mph on up. Moderate coarse-surface tire thrum."
Comfort - Front
"Big-rig space on wide, comfortable power seats. Standard power-adjustable pedals,
but only manual-tilt, non-telescoping steering column--surprising at this price.
Visibility impeded astern and to right-rear by roof design, but standard rear
obstacle detection, available rearview camera compensate some. Entry/exit not
bad for a large truck."
Comfort - Rear
"Another highish step to 2nd row, where comfortable seats furnish good head and
leg room. Thinly padded 3rd-row bench will cramp those over 5-ft-10, and accessing
it demands a low crouch while clearing flipped 2nd-row seats."
Cargo Room
"Only grocery-bag space behind 3rd-row bench, but plenty with those seatbacks
flopped down. The 3rd-row seat is split 50/50 and the sections are light enough
for no-sweat removal or installation, but they don't fold into floor and leave
gaps in load deck. So do 2nd-row seats, which fold/tumble at the push of a release
button, but require manual resetting. Cabin storage includes large bilevel console
bin."
